Job Summary:

  • Operate Automated Optical Inspection equipment to inspect printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Set up equipment, load and run AOI programs 
  • Read work instructions or other documentation to inspect products to specifications 
  • Use X-ray machine, microscopes and other specialized equipment to inspect products as needed to review and verify AOI-detected defects
  • Reads and understands all Quality Management System procedures related to the position / function within the organization
  • Performs First Piece and in-process inspections during production runs to ensure consistent quality
  • Alerts SMT operators, supervisor or engineering of non-conforming trends
  • Maintain accurate records within the quality system or MES software for inspection results and nonconforming material handling
  • Flag defects for rework/repair and re-inspect after rework 
  • Communicate with other stations on the assembly line, and with supervisors, leads, and engineers 
  • Complete forms, reports and other documentation per inspection instructions. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination required.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Flexibility to change tasks to meet schedule demands.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing in English is essential for understanding technical documents, safety guidelines, and quality standards.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma, trade school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of experience operating AOI equipment in an electronics/SMT manufacturing environment.
  • Familiar with IPC-A-610 acceptability criteria.

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of standing
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds at times

 

Schedule:  2:00 pm – 10:00 pm

 

Salary Range: $18.00 an hour – $23.00 an hour plus shift differential
